Born in January 31, 1977, in New York City, Kerry Marisa Washington is a popular American actress who has starred in the ABC drama Scandal, a Shonda Rhimes series, among many other American soap operas and dramas. In the Shonda Rhimes series, Washington plays the role of Olivia Pope, a crisis management expert of the President. Her popularity soared to a new height in 2013 when she gained world-wide public attention for her role and was later nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Around same time, Washington was also nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, and also for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television series.
