Sara was born to her parents Cristina Pinto and Armando Sampaio on 21st of July, 1991, in Porto, Portugal. She has a brother named Andre Sampaio. She grew up in the outskirts of Porto. Later, she shifted to New York in order to pursue her runway career. She was discovered at the age of 15 but wasn’t allowed to compete in modelling competitionsuntil 16.

Restricted to compete at the modeling competitions until the age of 16, Sara won her first beauty contest in Portugal called “ Cabelos Pantene 2007” at the age of 16.
