Family life
Morake was born to the parents who were activist and were conversating about black people issues within the country. They used to live in Mahikeng and were living in the fear of officers who used to regularly raid their house. Because of that, her father left the family and escaped. After that, the Tumi went to her grandparent’s house in Free State. Her dad was later arrested and charged with treason. After few months, her father was arrested and was sentenced to the jail. Later her mother was also arrested and was behind the bars for six months.
Professional Career
Her career in acting began when she started working at Arepp Theatre for Life, a touring educational theatre company. In July 2005, she joined the comedy scene officially with Parker Leisure Management and performs regular stand up gigs in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
She is also a writer and she is behind the TV shows, Kenny Makenzo and For Sale, which was a drama show that aired in 2007 on SABC 3. In 2006, she won Best Short Cut at the prestigious “VUKA! Awards” for a short film that she co-wrote named “Getting It On”.
As a comedian, Tumi has shared the stage with comics such as Stuart Taylor, David Kau, Marc Lottering and Chris Forrest; at festivals such as Whack Jobs, Heavyweights Comedy Jam, Blacks Only, King Size Comedy, Have a Heart, Just Because of Comedy Festival, The Tshwane Comedy Festival, The Lifestyle SA

The couple dated each other for a long time and they were in a long-term relationship before getting married.
